Information
There are very
many organisations and bodies which are concerned with sight, eyes,
ophthalmics, eye health and related matters in the developing world
and indeed world-wide. If you are interested in this subject, we
suggest you consult the following non-exhaustive list and if you
are aware of any sites we have missed, do please email us at info@adaptive-eyecare.com,
and let us know. Of particular interest is the World Health Organization's
site www.who.org
and the Vision 20/20 programme. Vision 20/20 aims to treat all cases
of preventable blindness by the year 2020, and of particular relevance
to the work of Adaptive Eyecare is the fact that refractive error
and low vision were identified as conditions justifying immediate
priority for treatment when Vision 20/20 was announced in February
1999.
